Are you one of those who say, 'I work in e-exporting and can't seem to get the results I want'? Could you be doing something wrong? Come, let's examine together one of the most important topics that will help you profit while working in e-exporting.

How Is Desi Calculated?

DESİ (Dimensional Weight), is the volume weight of a product and is commonly used in determining the costs of cargo transportation. The following formula is generally used to calculate DESİ:

DESİ = 3000/Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm)

In this formula, the values for length, width, and height are in centimeters. The division by 3000 is often a standard number used by shipping companies in the calculation of DESİ.

For example, if the dimensions of a package are 60 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm, the DESİ calculation would be as follows:

DESİ = 3000 / 60×40×30 = 24

In this case, the DESİ value for the package would be 24.

Shipping companies typically use the higher of the actual weight and dimensional weight in cost calculations. Therefore, whichever value is larger between the actual weight of the package and the DESİ value is used in determining the shipping fee.
